In 2008 I caught the gardening bug, I started hearing a lot of people talking about the 'grow your own' culture, most likely with the recession. I asked my dad about it and he told me he used to have an allotment in the village where we live and he used to grow all his own vegetables.
We decided to have a drive down there to see what was what and I got an email address from the notice board. I put myself on the waiting list and in September, 2 years later out of the blue got an email offering me thier starter plot. (Which to be fair is ideal size for me to work myself.)
It was very overgrown and hadnt been worked for a long while. But it had on it a shed and greenhouse! At a rent of only £7.90 a year, how could I turn it down?!
And here started my new way of life...
